Mumbai Indians Vs Royal Challengers Banglore

Mumbai Indians

CAPTAIN: RICKY PONTING
Coach: John Wright

RECENT FORM
They had a poor IPL last season despite making the play-offs. The change of leadership didn’t help. They need to start well.

WEAK LINK
The opening position. Mumbai Indians had a revolving door policy last year when it came to choosing a partner for Tendulkar, who himself was below par and struggled to force the pace.

KEY PLAYERS
In a changing and underperforming middle-order, Ambati Rayudu has been the shining light. Not only is he enterprising, he is also capable of pulling off impossible
heists.

X-FACTOR
Rohit Sharma. He pulled off a solo in the team’s last-ball win against Deccan Chargers and was also instrumental in a fine win over KKR at the Eden. He will need to be more consistent. Could benefit from opening the innings.

P 10 - RCB 5 - MI 5

Royal Challengers Banglore

CAPTAIN VIRAT KOHLI
Coach: Ray Jennings

RECENT FORM
They have been massive underachievers. Last year, they missed out on the play-offs spot by a whisker as players pressed the self-destruct button.

KEY PLAYERS
Chris Gayle is the man that RCB bank on heavily. He has so much confidence in his ability that he doesn’t mind playing out a few dot balls before going bang, bang. If he clicks, other key batsmen like Kohli can play around him.

WEAK LINK
The balance. There are too many pacers. The batting seems depleted. Question marks surround Zaheer Khan’s fitness.
